First off, what a wonderful website for you to share your experiences. I too am a midlife mommy. I had my first at 36, my second at 38, and now planning on our third for sometime in the 40 to 41 range. Did I plan my life this way, no, but this is what has happened and it is beautiful. The downside is perception. I have hesitated over the last 5 years to tell people my age, as I don't want them to associate my babies with an "old" mom - it's people's perception and comments that can just be down-right hurtful, intentional or not. Thank you for your site, hopefully it's helping educate others that no matter the age, being a mother is one of the most wonderful gifts.

Well done you...what a shocker at 39years old...I'm 43 and its either I do and if I dont then thats it. My partner of 15 years doesnt and does then we both find ourselves agreeing...its hard world out there. Its tough getting enough sleep ourselves, waking up getting ready for work let alone having to deal with another little person...getting them ready, fed, childminder, nursery etc etc. Dont know suppose you just get used to it. It is different if you can afford to have a nanny at home :-) that would be ideal!! but nevertheless, I dont even know if I can become pregnant now. I have been in the past - 1 miscarriage and 2 abortions....all much earlier than I met my partner 15 years ago. Your son is adorable! Do they really make you feel Much Happier>...... isnt there a sense of dread at the responsibility of this life.... I dont know! I'll stop waffling now. Good Luck.
